The Son of Hades

Delma looked up toward the sky and saw two figures of men,
high above the airplane.
“More of Zeus’s kids.”
Delma then stepped back, allowing Keegan, having moved
behind her, to peer out through the doorway. His heart sank upon
seeing the demigods looming overhead.
Pulling his head back in, out of the chill, he said, “For the sake
of these people, we must stop them—and quickly.”
Angelia’s face displayed her confusion at his statement. “You
surprise me. I thought you did not care for people.”
“They have done me no wrong. I have no reason to allow them
harm or wish them ill, let alone a death at sea.”
“So how do we stop ’em?” asked Delma.
“I don’t know,” said Keegan.
After a moment, as the two of them thought, Angelia smiled
and said, “Whatever we choose to do, it will not be accomplished
from in here.”
She then leapt out of the airplane and plunged into the sea. She
swam to and through the surface like a creature born there and then
began to run on the water beside the craft.
“Come! We must be quick!” she yelled from the sea’s surface to
Keegan and Delma, now in the doorway.
Suddenly Delma dove through the doorway headlong into the
stormy sea with an insignificant splash. After a moment, she rose
above the waves borne on a snaked pillar of water, enveloping her
at the waist and down around her legs, moving swiftly near Angelia
beside the airplane.
“Jump, Keegan!” yelled Delma.
He hesitated. He could not swim, but he wanted to keep the
plane from its perceived watery fate, so he began to back up, preparing
himself for the plunge.
Continuing to hesitate, he threw down his shield, thinking it
would not help him stay afloat. He breathed deep.
“Poseidon, have mercy.” Then he ran and jumped.
Boy from the Clouds
Once upon a time there was a little girl. This little girl loved to look at the clouds as she lay in the grass of the field of her favorite hilltop. She would stare up at them all day, and while she stared, she would think to herself, “How do I get up to that cotton candy? I wonder what white tastes like.” One day, while a colossal cloud was passing overhead and while the little girl was gazing, a ball began to form in the cloud and take shape. The ball turned into a little boy.
